Cabanas- While vacationing in Waikoloa, Hawaii, I went down to the beach one morning before anyone else got there to capture the long shadows that the palm trees cast on the striped cabanas lining the beach.

Hog Island -Nestled in the waters of Tomales Bay, Hog Island, and little Duck Island beside it, are often seen emerging from the fog that rolls in off the Pacific Ocean. With Windy Gap just to west of it, Hog Island frequently has a backdrop of fog, as in this pleine air painting.

Napa Valley- A pleine air painting done along the Silverado Trail in the heart of California's rich wine country. A vineyard of late summer's grapes just prior to harvest. The two palm trees stand as sentinels overlooking the vast vineyards of the Napa Valley wine region.

Long Shadows- In late summer, the rolling golden hills of Marin County are an endless source of beauty. Dairy ranches are abundant in the western areas of the county, and the hills are lined with terraces, or "cow stairs," made by the cows as they traverse the hillsides. The stark contrast of the green oaks and the gold hills makes an interesting composition.

Autumn Sunset- Along Pierce Point Road in the Point Reyes National Seashore, are fantastic stands of Bishop Pines. The setting sunlight off the Pacific Ocean, casts a rich "alpen glow" on the stately trees and pastures.

Spring Oak- A view if one of the many ancient oaks that are so prevalent in the western reaches of Marin County and State of California. This particular oak is striking in its perfect form and attitude, combined with its isolation in a flower-filled meadow.
