LATE AFTERNOON, WINTER, © Krystal Allen, 1999

Late Afternoon, Winter - Long shadows and the winter haze, during a quiet moment, exemplify the peacefulness of this late afternoon of winter along Tomales Bay.

1999 Watercolor 21.5" x 22.25" Matted & Framed $1500

Sunflowers- A friend who is a florist gave me some extra sunflowers one day, and I just knew that I had to capture them in a painting. I gathered a few other items to balance the scene, and got right to work. The original sold to the first person that I offered it to.

TOMALES BAY REFLECTIONS, © Krystal Allen, 1995

Tomales Bay Reflections- Looking north from Shell Beach along Tomales Bay, near Point Reyes National Seashore in Northern California. The morning light on the bay inspired me to capture this moment. It's not unusual to have the whole beach to myself. The play of light on the water is almost hypnotic. I only wish I could duplicate the sounds and smells to make it complete.

Northern Sunset- During a cross-country trip, I came upon this incredibly beautiful locale on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, just west of the Mackinac Straits. Located in the Hiawatha National Forest, this beach was quiet and the water was so clear that you could see the stones at the bottom nearly 50 feet out into the water. The light was rich and the shadows were deep.

OLD PUMP, © Krystal Allen, 1994

Old Pump-While walking on a beach near Waikoloa on the big island of Hawaii, I happened across this rusted hulk. I believe that it is the remnants of an old irrigation pump that helped to keep the sugar cane fields irrigated, before the area was wiped out by a large lava flow. This painting took almost 100 hours to complete.

Limantour Estero- Winter time offers some of the most incredible light and color along the pacific coast. Overcast days after a rainstorm create rich colors on this estero in the Point Reyes National Seashore, north of San Francisco. penninsula

SPIRIT ROCK III, © Krystal Allen, 1995

Spirit Rock III- Located in the San Geronimo Valley west of San Rafael, this 30-foot tall rock and Oak tree form a prominent landmark in West Marin County. As the summer fog begins its daily journey inland from the ocean, the rolling hills form a sensuous background for the flat plain of the valley floor. Exaggerated colors of late afternoon light accentuate the feelings this spot gives me every time I pass by.

Chicken Ranch Beach. -One of the many beautiful coarse sand beaches along Tomales Bay near Inverness, about 45 miles north of San Francisco. The play of light on this small body of water inspires and fascinates me.

FOLLOW ME, © Krystal Allen, 1990

Follow Me - Invites the viewer to follow my daughter Alycia into the gentle surf at Hanalei Bay, Kauai. The sun is high, the sand is hot, and the surf is cool and refreshing.

Black Mountain- On my way to Point Reyes Station one day in February, I drove by this scene and screeched to a halt. The cows seemed to be posing for me in the clear morning light with the reflection of Black Mountain as distinct and clear as the mountain itself. This vernal pond comes back every wet winter, and I look forward to seeing the cows grazing in-between the mountain and its reflection.
