Hicks Valley Oaks II - A group of native oaks ascending to the ridge line in Marin County, near the town of Novato. The hot summer, with no rain for a period of several months, dries the grassy hillsides to a "California" gold. Oaks, Bay Laurels, and Redwood trees cluster in protected valleys and northern slopes where moisture remains from the winter rains.

Canada Geese-While visiting Lake Tahoe one summer I encountered a large gaggle of Canada Geese. They were very docile and they let me get very close to them to photograph them from many angles. The fact that I had food with me may have had something to do with their friendliness.
